Brisbane Heat Secures Rising Star Matthew Kuhnemann on Long-Term Contract

The Brisbane Heat have secured the services of emerging Australian left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann for an extended period in the KFC Big Bash League.

Kuhnemann, who hails from the Gold Coast, has committed to a new three-year contract that will keep him with the Heat until 2026.

The 26-year-old has experienced a remarkable surge in his career over the past year, making his Test and One Day International debuts.

In the Indian series, he impressed with his performances, taking nine wickets at an average of 31.11, including a crucial 5-16 in the third Test.

Although Kuhnemann is currently recovering from a back injury, he attracted significant attention from other BBL clubs during the signing embargo period.

In the previous season, Kuhnemann played a vital role for the Heat, claiming 16 wickets in 18 matches and helping the team finish as runners-up.

The Heat coach, Wade Seccombe, expressed his delight at retaining Kuhnemann and expects him to continue striving for higher honours in the future. Another exciting left-arm prospect, Spencer Johnson, has also re-signed with the Heat for the upcoming season.
