Former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik has officially announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), bringing down the curtain on a remarkable 10-year journey in the tournament.
A Decade of PSL Excellence Comes to an End
The 44-year-old all-rounder took to social media to share the emotional announcement with his fans worldwide. “I have enjoyed every moment on and off the field in my 10-year PSL career,” Malik stated. “It is time for me to end this journey here.”
Malik’s PSL career has been nothing short of spectacular. Having participated in all 10 seasons since the league’s inception, he showcased his versatility by representing four different franchises: Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators. His final PSL appearance came in the 2025 season wearing the Quetta Gladiators colours.

Despite stepping away from the PSL, Malik reassured cricket enthusiasts that he remains committed to the sport’s development. “My services will always be available in the future for the betterment of cricket,” he confirmed in his retirement statement.
Malik’s International Retirement Timeline
The veteran cricketer has gradually stepped back from different cricket formats over the years. He bid farewell to Test cricket in 2015, followed by ODI retirement in 2019. While he never formally announced his T20 International retirement, Malik hasn’t represented Pakistan’s national side since 2021.
However, his passion for T20 cricket continued beyond international duties, as he remained active in various franchise leagues globally alongside the PSL.
